Partially Hatched Merganser Egg

Hey, everyone.
Yesterday, I had a group of hooded mergansers jump from my duck house! I believe there were 10 eggs total. Seven jumped in the morning and one jumped in the afternoon after the mom returned. When I went to check on the nest, one was still in the box (he had a leg injury, so I brought him into a wildlife rehab place and am hoping for the best) and one was an egg that was partially hatched-the beak was sticking out, but there wasn’t any movement. What should I do about this?

I'm not even sure what a merganser is but if it's a duck post a picture of the bill sticking out of the egg. Do you see any movement?

They are small diving ducks, as opposed to dabbling ducks like mallards. They live in my area, too.

I thought they were diving ducks but when I looked them up it didn’t say they were.

If the beak is sticking out, you should be able to see whether it’s breathing or not. You can peel a little of the shell around the hole to get a better look, if necessary

They are divers . If there is no movement at all it is most likely gone . Touch the beak see if you can stimulate a reaction . If you can see a reaction place a heat lamp over it spray some to warm not hot not cold water with a spray bottle to dampen the shell .
