Partridge bantam cochin rooster? What color? PICS

Who knows? I bought him at an auction, and thought he was the right color.

ETA: But he doesn't have any colored saddle feathers, so that's what I was thinking as well. He has the red hackles, and a few spots on his wings that are red. Other than that he is totally black. But he looks to have good type, I *might* use him anyway

He appears to be a black that is leaking red. I can not see his legs- are they yellow. If so he is most likely birchen. So you could make brown red out of him but not partridge.

Unfortunately I don't have blacks

Only the 2 partridge pullets and some black mottleds. So I guess it's back to the drawing board

You could use him with the mottled. Cross him to the mottled then back cross a male offspring to the mottled hens. You should get some mottled. You will also produce more blacks.

If you can not find partridge you can use him but it would be easier to just find a male partridege.

I already have 2 roos and a bunch of hens in mottled, no need to cross-breed them
