My DD really, really wants to know which of our roos is the daddy of our new partridge silkie chick. We have two partridge silkie hens (laying), two white pullets (don't think they are laying yet) and two roosters (one white and one black). Is there any way we can tell parentage, here?
Thanks!

You can't really say for certain--it's possible to be either, depending on the specific genetic makeup of each bird. Next time pen them to see whether the black is siring any partridge or not.

Silkies tend to be e^b based, so partridge is pretty easy to make--to a certain extend it is the "default" colour of non-white silkies.

Thanks. I think we will just wait for it to grow up.
