Questions for you genetics experts out there! 😊

I’m reading up on genetics and was wondering what the specific terminology is for the colors of Partridge and Partridge crosses. I know that ā€œPartridgeā€ is a very broad definition of a color pattern and it’s not very specific.

Specifically what is the official genetics color name for a Welsummer? I know it’s a duck wing, is it a gold duck wing?
Also cream leg bars are also a kind of duck wing, right? But they also have barring. What is the specific proper name for this color pattern?
What would be the proper color name for their offspring then? I have what is called a ā€œPartridgeā€ Olive Egger that is half Welsummer and half cream leg bar. This is a common cross now found in most hatcheries. What would this color then be called? Photo of this pullet below. Thanks in advance for any help!🄰

Partridge is a lot broader term oversees then in the US.
Here we have a partridge pattern that differs from duckwing.
Welsummer are red duckwing. Gold duckwing with mahogany.
CCL are cream crele. Crele is gold duckwing with barring. CCL are gold duckwing with barring and cream dilute.

Thank you for your helpful and thorough answer!😊 I really appreciate it.
What would then be the color name for the offspring like my pullet in the photo? She looks mostly like a gold duckwing to me. Would she then be recessive for the crele pattern?šŸ¤”

Would she then be recessive for the crele pattern?
No.

Crele requires white barring, which is caused by a dominant gene. The barring is either there or not, never carried without showing it. The color of the chicken can affect how obvious the white barring is. I'm pretty sure your pullet does not have it, but it would be hard to tell on a light colored chicken, and almost impossible on a white chicken.

She looks that way to me too.

Thanks for the explanation of crele. I appreciate your thorough response!😊
So for genetic purposes, my pullet is a gold duckwing, no mahogany or creme crele expressed or hidden.šŸ¤”

This page says the gene for cream should be recessive, so your bird might be carrying it and not show it.

But Mahogany and Crele are both dominant genes, and I'm not seeing either one in her, so I think it's safe to say she does not have them.

So Gold Duckwing, possibly carrying Cream.
