I have been told that crossing a Black Silkie with a Buff Silkie will result in Partridge, and that a Blue X Buff will give you Blue Partridge. My question is simply this : Is that true?? I thought Partridge color was the result of a specific Partridge gene.
I'm new to genetics, and don't really understand it all that well, but I am totally fascinated with it!
And if anyone has a TRUE Partridge Silkie, could you please post a photo?? I Googled and got a lot of different photos images that were labeled as "Partridge Silkie"...none of them really looked the same.

Not true at all, Black silkies are based on E(Extended Black) or ER(Birchen) buff silkies are based on wheaten(eWh) this combination of E/eWh will never produce a partridge like bird, first because partridge is based on partridge(eb) and Pg on a wild type background(all other genes being wild in nature)

Thank You! While I don't fully understand the genetics, I was pretty certain that if you wanted Partridge babies, you needed to start with Partridge parents...unfortunately, seems there a several 'breeders' out there that are doing that exact 'color cross' and selling the offspring as Partridge or Blue Partridge Silkies.
