I'm thinking of getting PRs or SS from Mt. Healthy by asking my feed store to add a special order for me to their regular order from Mt. Healthy. Has anyone gotten these breeds from them? What is the quality?

I got some from Ideal last year and love them - but Ideal is now sold out until May and I really don't want to order a whole lot of chicks, plus I am thinking of trying Mt. Healthy anyway bc the GLWs and BOs I have that came from them are really nice.

I was trying to hold out from buying chicks this year - only hatch some if I get a broody hen. But a coyote got a couple of my PRs.....

rareroo - I didn't know there might be hatching eggs available for Partridge Rocks, but I see you have them in your signature block! The deed is done - feed store added a small selection for me to their order, but please tell me about your PRs. I just love them and the SS. Sat out in a chair enjoying the evening with my entire flock today - and guess which birds were up on the arms of the chair, socializing with me? (PRs and SS)

Mt. Healthy Hatcheries is local for me. Last year I purchased 8 one-day old chicks from them and my broody is currently sitting on eggs from there as well. My chickens have been happy and healthy! I do have 2 PRs and 2 SS and I love both breeds dearly. They are calm and friendly. My PRs are happy to go off on their own at free range time, but they love coming back to hop up in my lap and chill. This has been my first experience with either breed (I also have blk cochins and BOs), and I fully intend to add more to my chicken family. The SS are so sweet and beautiful. I'm sure you would be happy with your Mt. Healthy chicks (the people at the hatchery are great as well- friendly and helpful). Have fun!

Thanks, Chickenheart! If you have photos of your Mt. Healthy PR and SS, I would love to see them! The deed is done - chicks arrive on April 7!

I got my PR's there last year. They are very social and are laying well. I would say they are 6 lbs. I was not very happy with Mt. Healthy's customer service though. I will not order from them again based on that alone.

Heres a pic of my partridge rock roo thats from them.

I just bought my Partridge Rocks from a friend this past week. I have a roo, 3 hens, and 1 POL pullet of them. Since I haven't had them very long, I can't tell much about their personallites yet, I'm waiting for them to get settled in and start laying again. I've had my SS for a while though, but I don't make pets out of them, just breeders to hatch and sell eggs. I will be getting SQ Partridge Rocks sometime within in the next year or so hopefully.

Here are some pictures of the girls. We are currently recovering from a record February snowfall and the chickens love to hang out by this muddy stream, scratching for insects. However, I was NOT prepared for the alien insect that Sparrow dug up. Eeewww! Still, Saffron the BO seemed to think it looked tasty and a hot pursuit ensued! The last picture I just had to throw in, as my dear broody Aqua is sitting so diligently on three eggs. The photos are clickable and will take you to a bigger version (maybe someone can tell me what this flat, wormy thing was! I'm going to have nightmares, and I'm not really squeamish).
