Ok so far I have had at least 6 "yellow" chicks hatch from my white show-girl X various hens. All of them end up some kind of partridge looking color and silkie feathered but more interestingly they have all been roo's so far. Could it be that it is sex-linked?

It also just struck me that my frizzle girls all have some very faint barring (one not faint at all) and all of their "black" chicks have been girls. DUH!!! Barred hen without a barred roo makes for black baby pullets and barred males. I knew that about my cuckoo maran hen but hadn't transfered that piece of info to my frizzles.

I do know with a fair amount of certainty that the partridge coloring is coming from a cross with these hens as all but one have been frizzled and my showgirl roo is not frizzled.

Just thinking out loud but wanted some other ideas as to what is going on. I have one little blonde chick right now that is not sexed and I don't see any red or gold growing on it yet. In fact it is feathering in blue. Odd...

But that is another post.
