Those people like your ex mentor are known as "Silkie Queens" Congratulations on the win, and welcome to the realm of poultry showing and the dwellings of the "SILKIE QUEENS" They are the one's who Love you the most when they are selling to you, but turn into ice when you start to do well on your own, not hanging onto their every word like they are the all knowing Oz! There are lots of them out there, if you don't watch your step, you might step into one of their super piles of $#!+ deep in an isle of fluff across from the unsuspecting jugde who has the task of the day. They hang on the cages the next row over, grumbling loudly, so that everyone including the judge, can hear their disagreement with the placings as they happen. They can be seen stamping thier feet, as they snatch the poor ball of fluff who did not win, out of it's cage. Complaining to everyone within ear shot the "Mr Fluffinator" was bred out of the great so and so's lines, has never lost before, and that the judging was rigged because someone knew someone. I enjoy telling these "Queens" at these moments, well you did pay for a $2.00 opinion! lol

i just love this,

All I wanted to do was raise the nicest Silkies that I possibly could. That's it. I only wanted to show to get my name out there. I seriously don't need this bs. It's so not worth it.

We FINALLY got our baby chick that our friend hatched. My bf fell off a ladder the day we were suppose to go... not 3 weeks post surgery, etc.... we got to go get the little fuzz ball! So here it is. I need your thoughts. Daddy is a partridge silkie. Momma is either partridge or buff. It started out almost white with skunk stripes we are told. Its is feathering partridge, but her head is still cream. I haven't seen a chicken like it... so I dunno. Who do you think the momma is??? And what is your guess on gender?

Its about 6 weeks old.

Thanks!
