Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Blue partridges? Wow! That's exciting. I just love them - they are gorgeous in person, and now that they've matured a bit more, they're more of a caramel color instead of a light tan. And they've kept that pretty blue gray throughout. They did come from the breeder's partridge pen, but she also said that they were a bit too light in color for her liking, which is how we ended up with them :)

I much prefer the very pale blue partridge, some say this is "splash" partridge, because when breeding blue you should wind up with a splash variation...I have to disagree, I believe this is just the light blue shade- OR others have told me it could be the LAVENDER partridge - which I prefer with the khaki/tan and powdery/lavender blue

This is Snickers, notice the red/gold in her and the penciled look to most, its hard to capture on her because shes so dark...but many say THIS is blue partridge....its just what most people are breeding for at the moment, but its SO hard to see it, and looks SO much like just a leaky dark blue...I don't like this variation, I much prefer the lighter OBVIOUS partridge marked (penciled) lighter blue birds

here is my blue partridge in the middle, good color representation. shes about 10/11 weeks old in this picture I think

She is beautiful - thanks for sharing. Yes, I see how she is darker than our pullets, but the blue-gray color is similar. There's just so much to learn!!

Scared of shadoes, do you mind if I ask what color variation is the silkie in the far right of this picture. I've never seen this before, and I think it's lovely.

I'd have to say Blue Partridge too! Here is one of mine about the same age. Congrats! I really like the color.

Debbi, thanks for posting that photo. Yes, I see that she looks similar to our girls. She is very pretty! I'm so excited to know that we have blue partridges, too.

I'm told its a bad porcelain... His name (think its a boy now that they're around 15/16 weeks old) is Sherbert as in Orange Sherbert. I need to get a new picture of him! He popped out of the same Partridge pen the blue came from, though I don't know if someone jumped the fence ?? lol

Some refer to the color as "Orange Frosted" or even Red Splash. Though he definitely has lavender in him somewhere, he has lavender penciled wings and butt - the undercoat is cream more than white.

Orange Sherbet! That is the perfect name for him. I think he is handsome.
