Hi Feathersprings,
Have you sold your Parti-Boys yet? I have one partridge girl named Cinnamuffin which I'd like to get a mate for. She might be a blue partridge because she was from BBS breeding pens? Should I look for a light or dark rooster to encourage good partridge coloring? There were times when I wasn't sure if she would stay partridge..........but I really like how she looks now. I want a breeding pen that gives very distinct partridge coloring offspring -like your baby chicks in pictures you've posted.
Here are pictures of her from chick to recent: She is standing in the front (right side).
At that awkward grow-out stage probably a month old.
At about 2 or 3 months old.
Cinnamuffin now. She is such a sweety.
So, what do you recommend as a good mate for her? She just started laying eggs but I'm not incubating them because they are fertilized with my splash rooster and I don't know what their babies would look like. Maybe I'll do a test hatch just to see -but I really want a good partridge breeding pen soon.
This baby only has a bit of rusty color on the back of the neck and it's the one I am hoping is silver partridge. The little partridge baby that I have in my avatar looks very similar in color and she turned out a dark blue partridge.
I can't ever tell what color they will be.
A couple days older trying out fermented feed - they all wanted to scratch in it.

I just wanted to share recent pics of my partridge and silver partridge girls. For some reason my other girls don't like these two so now these two have their own place.
Thank you! Cinnamuffin is 11 months old in that picture. It was taken just after she started laying eggs. She is now 13 months old and still pretty as ever. I really need some more pictures of her.
I had people over Saturday that were buying a couple 2-month old silkies. Cinnamuffin was in the nest box so they couldn't see her...........so, I just slid the nest box over to the door opening. She didn't budge but just turned her head sideways (like in the above picture) as if to say, "Pleeeeease, a little privacy!". She looked gorgeous and I was kicking myself for not having my camera.
Anyway, those customers were totally drooling over her and wondering when "she" would have some babies.
I think I will go ahead and incubate Cinnamuffins eggs even though she is covered by my splash rooster. She adores Leo Pierre and submitted to him long before she was laying. I hope she likes her new mate as much as Leo Pierre. This picture is about 4 months ago too
The babies will sell even though they'll be a mixture of colors. I'm discovering that around here people like to buy silkies after they are grown-out a little so they don't have to brood them and can just put them out in a coop. And, most people want them mainly for pets or for their kids in 4-H. And, eventually I will buy a nice partridge rooster for Cinnamuffin.
