I've taken hens before, but not roosters. It's been such a struggle for me to get decent looking roosters that my breeding program couldn't afford to loose the couple I had.

On New Years weekend I hatched out the first clutch of chicks from the parents I raised from shipped eggs off ebay. The main male is a Paint named George who is the most gentle of my roosters so I am trying to have him be the daddy and give him the MOST time with the girls. I actually got him locally as an adult. The other male I kept my hens with was a blue splash but I actually didn't see him mount that much...but looks like he did. I kept my two white paint roos away from the hens while I was collecting eggs to hatch since I know for sure they are their brothers. Out of the 6 eggs, I have 2 white, 2 cream/blue, and a partridge. ???? The partridge must have come from the blue splash. I lost one bright yellow chick at birth, I think he snagged his yolk sac trying to get out. I have one more egg to hatch this weekend from my blue hen. She has been eating her eggs and I didn't have one from her so when she laid an egg 5 days after I put the other eggs in the incubator, I didn't hesitate to put that in there also. Hoping for a hen of what ever it is... Look at my little CHIPMUNK!!! Boy I hope its a hen but I will keep no matter if male or female.

I was told my little Chipmunk is a boy because of the very distinct stripes. Is this for sure? I am going to keep him/her no matter what. I would just love to know...

Doesn't mean anything. Could be boy or girl.

Can sex partridge starting around 10 weeks. Not well, but can tell some obvious ones.

Hey there, I have a partridge rooster who has just developed all green tail feathers. He's about 5 months old and I was wondering if this was part of the normal partridge coloring.

QUESTION:When are they old enough for treats? Mine will be a week old tomorrow. Can they have cherries?
