Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Good to know I don't have to have a partridge to keep the partridge , just grey to keep the grey.

She is way smaller than the others and she's up tight to a year old. I hadn't thought of AI.She is a very pretty little thing.

Thank you for both answers.

Hi there! Can anyone tell me what they think of this cockeral? I know both of his parents were partridge. He is approximately 7 to 8 months old.Is he too reddish/auburn in color? Thank you!

New pic of Topaz... she is growing up so fast! Her crest was wet when this was taken, so it looks odd. Plus she's still got pinfeathers, but she's getting a nice round poofball (Yay!!!!)

Happy to get critique on her. Also, is she looking like a regular partridge or a blue? She is super light, almost a soft cloud color over her buttfluff and tummy

This one also includes my splash and my black silkies back LOL

He is definitely a partridge and he is very nice! LOVE his type! He is more of a ginger coloring - but that black tail is super neat, love this guy!

I thought partridge have black just. correct me if i'm wrong though.

I'm confused, what exactly is the question? the black tail or black chest?

The thing with partridge is there are a lot of variations with the color. Standard calls for a black chest, but you see a lot of ginger birds that have the red/mahogany chests (like Freckle Faces) - they are really good to breed for nice redder/golder female offspring. To get good standard male offspring though you need a black/dark chested male.

My breeder boy Jonah : he has the chocolate/dark chest (not quite black)

His brother I just got with a redder head (flash is on so he looks alot brighter) coloring and the blacker chest:

A 5 month old Ginger Cockerel I just got, and who I will use for a female line of partridge

Sorry. i meant have a black chest. I was rushing and had to be somewhere.

There really is not "A" partridge gene, unless you are referring to the e^b allele of extended black. Partridge is e^b Pg s; translate that as asiatic partridge or brown (e^b) + pattern gene (Pg) + gold (s).

e^b chicks show a chipmunk pattern on their backs. Without the pattern gene, and/or with additional melanizers, an e^b chick as an adult can be solid black or blue or lavender, or the same but with leakage. e^b can be the base for buff, and is the base for both partridge and grey. Many whites are e^b based.
Omg.... Thank you for explaining this so that anyone can comprehend! I am so confused about what all the abbreviations mean and have not found any explanations I can understand. Is there somewhere I can go, on the web or a book, that explains genetics so a blonde can understand it? :D ie... Genetics for Dummies! Or can you just follow me around here and explain it all? ;) Sorry I'm late on this subject.... I haven't been here in a few days Sharon

Looks to be good type. Really too red, though. Nevertheless, it is what many parridge boys look like. I can't see his breast to tell whether it as enough black or not.
