Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Group-photo of some of the youngsters (+- 4 months) BBS but Partridge versions (what you call in US "grays")
For all of them the basis is the same "eb/eb S/S * S/-"
In these are different color-genes at work as Bl - Pg - Co - cha - Ml, still working on making all aligned and pure.

PS non of these colorations are (yet) recognized here in EU !

Beautiful! So, these would not be considered a silver partridge? I am having trouble figuring out the difference between the silver partridge versus the grays.

Silverpartridge in EU are the pencellid partridge (Pg/Pg)
Gray in US are partridge without the pencelling (pg+/pg+)

no you have in backwards

in europe they are called silver partridge - silver partridge have the same penciling as a partridge does

in US the standard recognized color is Grey and it is partridge WITHOUT penciling - thus calling them silver partridge is not correct IF the color is correct. if a Gray in US has penciling its not really a "real" Grey...BUT theres only a couple breeders that have REALLY nice true to color Grey's Donna McCormick and Gilda Godwin I think are the two main ones with really nice Greys without the penciling and the nice even coloring

So, can greys be splashed with white? I am trying to pay close attention to this conversation, as this weirdly colored little roo I have is confusing me. He has no penciling, but what looks like white splashes, or a better way to describe him is as having a white "undercoat". he has no brownish color to him anywhere.

I think i have a partridge silky that is brown. it is 2 months old. I don't know the difference between a brown frizzle and a brown partridge silky. a strange thing happened recently. I got a single surviving 1 week old black giant chick ( I named it Moses ) . that I tried to introduce to the chicken pen under my supervision. I have red sex link pullets, amber sex link pullets, tetra tint pullets ,an amerucana,, a black polish, and this partridge silky?. most of the chickens wanted to peck the chick however after Moses chirping loudly, my brown partridge silky? took Moses under its wing. and defended it. Moses is so happy to have a mom now. I don't understand how a 2 month old silky can have such mothering instinct . I keep them separated from the flock now until Moses is bigger. I let them out with the other birds to graze but bring them in the house when i'm not present. It is so cool to see lonely little Moses so happy. Has anyone ever heard of this behavior in a 2 month old bird?

That is so sweet! She sure sounds like a silkie because they live to be moms! Even the boys will help take care of the kids!
