Ugh! Staying up all night with 13 week old GSD with parvo. I have to hold her, it seems to help with the vomiting. I wish she would eat. Already saw a vet. She is on meds for vomiting and diarhea, but she still vomits from time to time. Any experience with parvo puppies? I'm worried about malnourishment, as she is already skinny and dealing with tapeworms. (can't chemically deworm her until her treatment finishes)

Good luck to you and the pup. The only pup I've had manage to pull through was kept at the vets office with medication and an iv line to keep her hydrated. That was 15 years ago, so I don't know how much treatment has improved. From what I remember hydration is the most important for their recovery. Thankfully since that pup, I haven't had the issue again with any other pups. Keep us updated on how she is doing.

Thank you! Will do.
It's strange. Her brother has it too, but since his symptoms have completely disappeared. The only apparent thing wrong with him is that his best buddy and favorite chew toy is on bed rest.

Are these rescue pups? My pup was given to be by my dad. Then we rescued a shelter pup. The shelter pup brought it in, and by the time we realized what it was, it was too late for him. However, we were able to save our girl. I think parvo is much more prevalent in some areas than others. When I lived in New Mexico I saw it a lot, but where I'm at now I rarely hear about parvo cases.

I'm glad the one is doing better. I hope your little female pulls through soon.

Yes, they are rescues. We found the two of them covered in mange with their mother on the side of the road. After we treated the mange, the mother ran off and never came back.
Do you know if drooling is a normal symptom of Parvo? Sybil (the female puppy) never drooled before, but now she's drooling heavily.

Parvo is usually fatal, unless they're under a vets supervision, and even then its pretty bad.

I would honestly mix some vitamins in their water, some C, D, and B12. A vet may be a good idea as well.

I took them to see the vet after the emergency clinic tested for parvo. They each got a shot and have pills to swallow at regular intervals. I have been syringing pedialyte and kibble-broth gruel into Sybil's mouth as well. The diarhea stopped altogether for both of them, but Syb shows no sign of regaining her appetite and has had no bowel movements since the diarhea stopped.

I don't remember if drooling was an issue, but every dog I had succumbed to it pretty quickly. With the exception of the one who went to the vet, of course. I didn't see her through the worst of it, as the vet didn't send her home until she was healthy and happy again.

Update: Sybil ate breakfast this morning! She hasn't thrown up all day, is nibbling solid food, and get this: She actually climbed over the toy-boxes blocking her into the sick-room! She is still weak and has a lot of weight to gain before she can be considered well, but she may very well mend!

Here is a picture of the toy-boxes she climbed:

She is precious. Getting some energy back is a good sign. I remember my pups with parvo passing away pretty quickly, like 2-3 days. So, maybe she has made it through the worst and will continue to heal. That's what I'm hoping for her. Is her brother doing better?
