parvo puppy

The drooling could be a side effect of the meds. I know you probably already know this, but I think maybe I should put it out there for anyone reading this in the future.. Parvo is highly contagious and disinfecting can be a challenge. You have to use a bleach solution to disinfect over regular cleaning solutions. Contact with unvaccinated animals should be limited, and if you're going somewhere like the feed store, pet store, friend's houses, etc you have to make sure you're clean, disinfecting your shoes with the bleach solution.
Like I said I am sure you know that, I am sure the vet filled you in on how long parvo tends to stick around. But if someone else needs help later and looks it up, hopefully they will read it. ;)

I'm so glad this pup seems to be OK, though. It's a heck of a caring owner that can pull a pup through parvo like that. You should be proud of your accomplishment. :) what a fighter (both of you) ;)

Update: Sybil ate breakfast this morning! She hasn't thrown up all day, is nibbling solid food, and get this: She actually climbed over the toy-boxes blocking her into the sick-room! She is still weak and has a lot of weight to gain before she can be considered well, but she may very well mend! Here is a picture of the toy-boxes she climbed:
So happy for you, do you have vircon? Mixed at 2% it kills the parvovirus but it's safe on fabric, wood , metal glass.its safe around kids and animals also. Got mine at the vet

Yes! He has actually grown and put on weight since the diagnosis and no longer shows any symptoms, so I think he's probably fine. XD

Disinfecting is going to be a pain. I'm glad we don't have carpet flooring! We'll just have to do our best, I guess, and try to limit the virus' spread as much as is reasonably possible. (to clarify, burning the house down is not an option, though it might be cathartic. ;)

You can offer some childrens unflavored pedialyte. That will help with dehydration until she is ready for actual water. We had a puppy with Girardia years ago, and Pedialyte actually saved her life, she was so bad. I bought several at a time from walmart.

Thank you, but she is already on free-fed water! While she was in the thick of it we syringe-fed her "Compare to Pedialyte" electrolyte drink and I think it helped her a great deal. My concern right now is getting her weight up and cleaning/disinfecting much-exposed areas of the home while watching for complications from malnutrition/dehydration/organ damage.

^.^ funny! I hope everything goes smoothly from here on out. I can imagine the bond that dog will have with you after something like that. <3
