Passed Out - Chick Question

That's what my RIRs do when they sleep. One of them sprawls out with her wings spread and looks like a crashed airplane, but I think she just likes the heat on her dark feathers and is sleeping very soundly like that. If I make a noise and wake her up, she jumps up and goes back to eating.

These questions are pretty common. It is pretty frightening to see your babies sleeping. Wait until you see them dust bathing. You will think they are DOA.

They seem to sleep where ever they fall.

Sort of unrelated to this thread (but related to your picture), I had read some place here at BYC's that cedar chips are bad for chicks(?) Are those cedar chips in the pic? I have a bag of chips from Tractor Supply that say "Wood Chips" on the side, but they don't say what kind of chips (They are not reddish like some cedar chips, but they do have a little smell to them). I was concerned last night about whether to use them or not.
