Passed Out - Chick Question

My new chicks seem to have their days and nights all mixed up. All throughout the night they seem to be running around, but when I get home from work they look like this:

Last year when I saw the first one lay down like this I was afraid too (especially after having spent a few weeks reading posts on sick chicks before getting mine). It's normal....

My husband got freaked last night from the same thing. I'm the one who deals with the chicks the most and when he saw that he was like "Are they dead?" But nope they were just sleeping. sprawled out laying on their side feet sticking out. They are so funny how they sleep.

I am soooo glad I joined this forum. Always make me feel good that others think the same thing or start posting pics of EXACTLY the same thing... I am soo happy I was not overheating my babies, we are just loving them!!!

I should have gotten up and posted the question last night...I seriously had a hard time sleeping. I knew I could not raise the lamp more that would have dropped the temp to below 90.....I bet they were tired today!!! I kept waking them up to make sure they were okay......

I found one sleeping in his water dish, luckily his head was resting on a glass pebble and hadn't fallen into the water yet. I had to move him. They will sleep anywhere lol.

LOL - it is scary at first! They just fall right over and sleep where they are - just like real babies! They'll lay sideways and/or spread their wings if they get too hot. That's been my experience anyway.

The first time I saw my chickens laying over with their wings spread out like that I thought they were sick! LOL! I figured out though that they were hot (it was summer and they were outside) and that they were just cooling off.

First.....the babies are adorable !!! Love the tripod.
When I first got my Guinea keets last September I thought they were dead too ! One of them had the habit of sleeping flat on it's tummy with it's neck/head extended straight out in front of it. Looked as if it was just waiting for the ax to fall and chop it's head off. :))
