Passle of Pyrnees Puppies - Update: Their eyes are starting to open!

Oh my-I want

Sherri,Thanks so much for the info. Exactly what I wanted to hear. We have lots of coyotes, they actually have gotten worse in the past few months. I found coyote droppings about 150 feet from the barn, way to close for comfort. They've never come this close before. Unbelievable how the dogs will kill the coyotes, not just chase them off. We just found out that a neighbor down the way has a Pyr, and he says he loves her. She is not registered, but my hubby says she looks just like yours in the pic. This guy says he knows someone with a male that he is going to breed her to this year. I think we're going to try to find a breeder, but if nothing else, we can always get a pup from him. But I'd like to find one sooner.

Do you have any kind of local ag. newspaper? If so, check the classifieds. Or talk to local vets, etc. Make sure they know you're looking for a working dog. Like many other breeds, some bloodlines have become more for pets/showing, etc.

SheriM those puppies are absolutely adorable. I would have loved to have one...was looking for one. But about three weeks ago, I lucked upon a great pyr/lab cross. He is HUGE. At 13 weeks old he weighed 42 lbs.

I hear ya about the jumping...I am 5'2" and I have had to get really tough with Casca...he wants to jump up into my lap.

I cannot imagine him sitting in my lap when he is 140 lbs or so, LOL

I am sorry you lost one...gosh that is so tough. Poor Mom...how is she handling the loss?

Good to know. We're checking the paper online now. We've found a few ads, more than I thought we would, actually. I understand what you're saying about making sure we get a working dog. I'll talk to my vet to see if he knows of any breeders. Thanks.

Momma dog (Ellie) didn't even seem to miss him. Guess that's an advantage to having that many.

Congrats on the new puppy. They are SO much fun! Are you planning to use him as a guardian dog? If so, you might have a bit of a challenge on your hands if his labrador instincts come out. Labs are normally very gentle dogs, but it is in their nature to retrieve...to put their mouths on things, so you might have to watch that if you have him in with livestock.
