Pasted butts

I've also used Neosporin, or Vaseline, to put on the cement blob...it seems to help it moisten and come loose faster and easier. They seem to like that a little better then the warm water on their little hinnies

I just put in on, wait a little while, and it is usually ready to clean right up

I used to get this from my seramas chicks until a friend told me to try save-A-chick for the first week of life and after that I never seen pasty butt again so now I use that every time
my chicks hatch good luck Save-A-chick works great ...

Thanks so much for the help, everyone! One of you mentioned temp of brooder as possible factor. What temp do you recommend? They will be a week old Monday. It's been averaging 86-87 in there. If it's any warmer, they seem to be too hot - they just lay around like little furry puddles.
