It was just the rye seed that was a problem, not the grass. I need to find that again.

I read thru all the plants listed on toxic plants and they listed tomato plants, this past summer we had an overabundance of tomatoes, and when i got tired of freezing them i just thew to the chickens, both green and ripe, they loved them, and when i pulled up the bushes, i also thew them in the run, in mins they were stripped down to bare stems, and my ladies didn't seem to be bothered by them all all, also most of the grass left here is goldenrod, they also listed cabbage and i give my ouside leaves to the chickens, but i don't feed them potato peeling, they just don't like them, but they eat them any other way,

Owned by 12 RIR,1 Pitt bull, 1 poodle mix,1 yorkie, and 1 crabby gray cat.

Mine ate tomato plants last year, and were fine!

I have to agree with covenant creek...there's no way they could sell this as a pasture mix if anything was poisonous to any farm animal!!

pasture mix isnt supposed to be fed as a grain its a seed for planting pasture,and yes it can be treated with an insecticide witch would be harmfull,however if you plant it and they eat whats comming up then no

To clarify, I want to buy it to PLANT and GROW then let them free range.

aha,well then no problem ,my lawn is fescue and they eat the heck out of it

a good pasture mix will have alfalfa in it. If it's for chickens, a grass mix w/some clovers would be better. Also less expensive.

Alfalfa is an excellent feed just bitter & expensive
