Yesterday I found a little guy almost dead in the coop, he was too little and too cold to try and run with the big guys. After heating him up with a blow dryer and lots of massage, he really perked up! (I mean: total miracle) I put him under a broody mama with babies about the same age and in a closed box (no more running away) and figured "Well, it will or it won't".This morning I'm sure I saw a little black fuzzy butt tucked up in the mama's wings, so I think he made it. Since he got so cold yesterday, I'm sure he's at risk for pasting up. Should I dig him out and check his butt or can mama help him?

Thanks!

I put a dab of Olive oil on my chicks butts to help prevent it from coming back, just use a q-tip or cotton ball.

In case anyone finds this topic in a search, I want to follow up: little guy (or girl) did fine under mama and hasn't shown any pasting. Such a welcome surprise, despite the severe chill the baby seems to be doing fine.
