My Ameraucana's vent is all pasty. It also looks like parts of the inside are out & all red. She's two. I've had pasty butts in chicks, but not a hen. I soaked her for 5 minutes and lightly wiped it with a wet cloth. I have a picture, but didn't want to post it unless asked. Any advice. She's acting normal. Thanks.

Post the picture. It sounds like she has a prolapse.

Maybe the pic?
What's the coop/run setup like? Pasty butt can be caused by stress or overheating. Never heard of it in a hen
I'm not certain it is pasty butt, just looks like it. Here's a picture I was holding off, because I don't want to gross anyone out. My chickens have a large run about 3000 square feet. I have 13 chickens. One of the other chickens does beat up on this one & others, but it's her head feathers that are pulled. This is the first time I've seen anything around the vent.

Was she okay? I had a hen with a prolapse who unfortunately died from it but it’s been a while and I’m eager to know !
