I’ve read several articles about removing the poo and what not to do (stress them out or pull on the umbilical cord) but nothing seems to be working for this lil fella.
I have 4 bantams I bought from tractor supply 2 days ago. They seem good except for one. He tries his best to reach around and clean it himself but can’t get it. (This tells me it’s bothering him)
We keep temp around 85-90, just fresh luck warm water, chick starter food (that I break up extra fine) they have a little bit of sand to nibble on as well.
I tried a warm, wet cotton ball. This seemed to moisten the poo a little but not remove the chunk.
Do I try to gently pull it? Take him/her to the vet

If you get some warm water and soap and rub between your fingers for a minute or two it will come off. Apply a bit of veg oil to his vent opening. Try getting him to drink plenty of water, and give him a few drops of molasses, or put a little mineral oil in some of his feed. Runny wet chick feed with a lot of water can get more water into him. He may be dehydrated and suffering from being shipped. It is common, but the poo may still get stuck, and you need to check for it once a day and remove it. By day 7 it may end.

THANK YOU!!
I believe we are POO FREE!!
Actually using my fingers to breakup and soften the poo worked. I had to pinch down on the clump a little, which he jumped, making me jump (and hurt for him) this seemed to do the tick!
When the ‘clump’ fell off he let a good long poop in my hand. Never thought id be so excited to see poop in my hand!

I had to do butt checks for about 10 days when we first got our 19 chicks in the mail. I'd check each one, then put the clean ones in one bin and the dirty ones in another bin. Then I'd take them in the bathroom and put a cotton ball under hot(not scalding) water and squeeze the water onto the chicks bottom. After about 10 seconds, I could gently rub the poo off with the cotton ball. Fewer and fewer chicks needed it every day until day 7, then it was just one hold out. I think being shipped makes it more likely. The three cream leg bars we got at a week old have had no pasty butts at all.
