Pasty butt weirdness

Well, one chick had pasty butt and I cleaned it with a cotton swab and warm water. I noticed after I cleaned the vent, some yellow stuff was now around the vent looking like it was coming out of the vent. It wasn't a lot of yellow stuff it was just a little speck. It looked like the middle of a hard boiled egg. Every time I looked at the chicks vent I could see the little vent kind of pucker. Is all of this normal? What were your experiences with cleaning pasty butt???

Thanks for the response!!!!!!!!!!! That makes me feel better. I have silkies and they are just tooooo delicate! I can't wait till they are old enough where they dont need a heat lamp and can't really get as many diseases. When the silkies are hens, I will let them set there own eggs.
