I just got a few chicks last night and one of them has poop stuck to her butt. I looked at it, and it does not appear to be covering the vent.
Should I still clean it up and how?

The sooner you clean it the less likely it is to build up more. I just use warm running water and a paper towel to pull it off once it loosens up. Another paper towel to blot it dry, and you're good to go!

You might want to add vitamins to their water. I lost two chicks to pasty butt then i started adding vitamins to their water and haven't lost another since.

What kind of vitamins and where do you buy them? I've read this before but wasn't sure what to get.

I also read on another post yesterday that you can put a little olive oil on their booties every day and that will help it come off easier.

Yeah, never in my life did I ever think I would be saying to myself or to my husband, "I need to get up and go check if I need to wash any of the chicken's butts."

The first group we had we were told to use a hair dryer to dry their booty. Last night, I just got a cup of warm water, paper towel and some Q-tips. I did all of this under the heat lamp so she wouldn't get cold. I dipped the Q-tip in the water and got her booty wet enough for the paste to come off easily then I used the paper towel to remove it. She didn't even cry but when I put the others under running water and blowed them dry, they didn't like it.

I just saw another post regarding vitamins in case any of you want to try it for your chick's pasty butts.
