Pasty Butt!

My chick had a case of pasty butt and when I cleaned the poop off of her butt I found a small red bump on her skin. It's located not on the vent but further down the butt.
Does anyone know what it is? or what caused it?

Congratulations! You've most likely found the chicken equivalent of a bellybutton

They'll have a lump an inch or so below the vent for several weeks. Don't pick at it, or try to pull it if the cord is still attatched.
