So our chick dubbed pasty is not doing too hot, my wife and I have been cleaning her pasty butt since the night we brought her home (4 nights). All of her brood mates are doing great but we have put her in her own chick hospital for now. I’ve given Nutri-drench and have been getting her water by mouth via dropper. As of today she is just standing there. Anything else we can do or is she inevitably going to pass?

Pasty butt is a sign of shipping stress. Unfortunately, she may not make it. But for now, I would work on giving the water and NutriDrench often. Water with sugar 1 tsp per 8 ounce cup can also help. Mix a small amount of chick feed with a lot of water, and teach her to eat that along with sprinkling a few crumbles on paper towel and tapping it. I have had shipped chicks that would have pasty butt for up to 10 days, so keeping that cleaned off it important. I hope that she makes it.

Thank you I’ll keep cleaning her! The discouraging part is that she was eating normally up until yesterday (which obviously I know isn’t a good sign). But I’ll try the sugar water and food like you suggested, thank you!!
