Pat - Beet Pulp Substitution?

I went to TSC today and picked up some of the last beet pulp shreds they had. I am fortunate I have a place to store it and will have some to spread out over the late fall and winter for my goats.

I paid $11.99 per 40 lbs bag.

BOSS was $28.99 for a 50lbs bag. I passed on it for now. :S

When leaves start to fall we will be raking and bagging those or the goats over the winter too.

Do you have anyone in your area that grows grass seed?

They make screening pellets from the milling that rates
about 8\\9 percent protien

All of our area feed stores and even the feed mill ran out of beet pulp shreds in July and won't have any til late September, they hope. We mix, Alpha Oats, Alfalfa pellets, crushed corn, and all stock for our sheep. Plus they get top quality hay all year round. You can use soybean hull pellets, or mash too I'm told.

Two of my horses eat beet pulp on a reg basis. Same deal here none till Oct. Triple Crown Senior is based on beet pulp.

So they get hay for a bit in stead of the beet pulp.

Do you feed TC Senior? From what I am gathering from this board and others that none of the TC products are going to run out. Price may change though.

I geed TC Senior and Growth which are both Beet Pulp based and have had no problem in getting them.
