I'm new to raising chicks and it's time for them to move out of our garage brooder. Our coop is structurally complete but the more I read, the more I doubt our decision on flooring. I wanted to move them out tomorrow morning so I could be close by painting the outside as they adjust. Have I made a flooring mistake? I've been reading about deep litter method. We live in hot Georgia. The paver gravel and river rock make good drainage sense but our tamest chick wasn't too thrilled when I took her in the run. I was thinking of adding hardwood mulch as a quick fix?

I live on the gulf coast and use the deep litter, course pine shavings in the coop and leaves, pine straw and course pine shavings in the run. No smell. I would be concerned that the poop would just get stuck between the gravel and not compost. you could probably just add the deep litter over the top.
