Kate knew there was another kid sitting at the bus stop, but she didn't bother to look up. Her bangs hid her tears and emotions as she stood, looking at the ground.

"you look like your having a rough day." Jason said, trying to sound kind but his voic coming out tired, so very tired.

"N-no, not r-really," Kate lied, unsure if he was gonna bully her or not. "Y-you seem tired," she added, her voice shaky from crying.

"I know how badly they bully you, and I'm sorry. And yeah, I'm tired, but I'll rest soon. Probably take a couple months, but soon." he said, sadness mixed with relief in his grey eyes, and kindness in his haggard voice.

Leah walked over. "Jason..., are you ok?" she asked softly, her voice flooded with concern.

He looked at her sadly, an odd emotion in his eyes and a faint smile on his lips. "no, but it can't last much longer. It doesn't matter anyway, none of it matters..." he said, trailing off as his eyes closed and his breathing steadied out.
