Paying with silver?

With a collapsed system do you really think that a pound of chicken will be $1.09 ? Will people still be painting fences ? Some people will say lead will be of more value then gold.

I agree and this kinda lead will be priceless.

my husband has been preaching this for the last couple years.he seems to think we are in for hard times.we do store food and ammo.he says we will have to fight to kept what is ours.

You WILL FIND ....that in "attempting" to do business in/with GOLD and/or SILVER that you will encounter many difficulties. MOST of those difficulties will arise from determining the purity of your metal. ( 10K ? 14K? 24K?,etc. )....ALSO...most people are unaccustomed to such transactions.....so you WILL be doing business with a "Dealer"....who WILL "discount" the value of your GOLD/SILVER.

It is an "out-moded" Medium-of-Exchange and due to the SCARCITY (relative), it can no longer serve as a "universal' medium-of-exchange.

You are "stuck" with Gub-Mint printed currencies....whether you believe-it-or-not.

Hemet Dennis, was just throwing numbers around for some kind of guess, I’m sure it won’t be anywhere close to 1.09 either. I have read some people say buy gold for a hedge against a dollar collapse. But I never see how they are going to use it or any suggestions for exchange. For example how much silver equals an ounce of gold etc. I agree direct barter maybe easier.
I’m thinking worse case, collapse of the banking system, food shortages and rolling brown outs, fuel rationing, a lot of businesses shut down, some looting and rioting. I don’t think we would see a Mad Max scenario, its possible in big cities if people panic. I heard that US stores only have a two day supply of food in store.

Ok so the people selling the gold tell you to buy gold because money will become worth nothing, and yet they are selling the gold for money. So do they believe what they say ?

Being someone who raises food in an area classified as a "food desert", I know that if it comes down to it, I won't be taking silver or gold for my goods. If you have something I want, I might barter, but metal won't do me much good when I'll be looking for things like cloth, grain, and ammunition. You can keep your silver and gold, I think I'll be better off with actual food to barter with.
