(I am going to post this both here and in the chat thread because I want the most possible people to read it. (selfishly, it is in my best interest!))

Okay, so thanks to Spitfire and her contact at the Virginia Department of Agriculture, I have gotten some info cleared up about the importation requirements for eggs and day-old chicks for Virginia. Evidently you don't need approval for each shipment, just one blanket approval that is good for the whole year to ship into Virginia. (adult birds are a different story)

Here is what she wrote:

"For people in other states to ship to you:
1. They need to have a poultry approval number, all mail order hatcheries already have this, and a lot of smaller hatcheries/individuals have it also. It is very easy to complete if your shipper does not already have it and like I said you only have to apply once and the number is good all year.
2. The shippers needs to be NPIP certified OR Birds need to be Pullorum tested within 30 days and AI tested within 14 days, and both of those tests are common to the poultry industry and easy to obtain."

If anyone has any questions, I can send you the forms and her contact info via e-mail (PM me!) and I will keep a list of who I am allowed to claim from and provide it to other Virginians when required.

Thanks to anyone willing to do this!

Oh, they're lovely! And what a handsome roo! Someday I want some of your blues :) Is the white a sport, or are they actually bbs?

They are normal bbs coloring. I kept one pullet of each color and have a splash roo which I am going to replace with a blue as soon as I get one up big enough because the black (which I don't have pictued) is even prettier. She has a beautiful iridescent purple sheen. They also plumped up much more when they started laying. I have to get some updated pictures taken.
