I am new to buying eggs with PayPal and thought maybe u all could answer a question for me. I am going to pay for some eggs on PayPal that might not even be laid and sent til end of feb to early march and the seller asked me to pay for it on PayPal as a debt owed so they don't have to pay some kind of fees......is this normal? I am paying a bit of $$ so I just want to protect myself. Any tips would be much appreciated!

I havent evet had anyone ask that but i guess it could be.Thete isnt acatagory that i am aware of on there unless its under " other".However i dont think it would change the fact she owes you eggs as it is a debt owed to her for you to recieve them in a few werks.Maybe tell her you will pay the palpal fee along with the eggs rather than pay it debt owed If its eggs it cant be more than $5 Probably much less.

The seller doesn't want to have to pay the 3% fees in a sale instead it's a gift or transfer of money to him. You are not protected if something goes wrong with the purchase though if you send as a gift. I would pay the 3% to be protected with your purchase. Good luck

My 2 cents: I prepay for eggs, so that's not unusual. But if the seller is mailing you the eggs... it is actually shady for them to ask you to pay them via personal debt owed versus payment. If they never send you the eggs you won't have any protection. If they invoice you and you pay them via purchase payment, they have your mailing address and must prove that your package was sent/delivered if something goes wrong. I know people who pay/ask for payment this way, and love them anyway...but it is illegal. Of course, if they don't have a business and haven't paid taxes for sales, they might not even know that. Unless you are paying $500+ there is not that big of a fee. I'd ask if I could pay the extra few dollars (shouldn't be more than $3-5), to protect myself.
