I want pizza!!!!

Me too!

see...i was typing on here and then I had to go out and check on my chickens and i should have waited because it took me more than 10 min. out there and by the time I came back it was burnt.

and why? is it debi's fault? because she's such a tenderheart, she'd have to check on her chickens too... one died yesterday--could have been heat? or a sour crop? I've got one in the bathroom with a sour crop.

I've got little gnatty things drivin them bonkers outside and they piled up on each other inside the coop and that's when i noticed the black aust. under them all. So what do I do about those gnats?

I took her out and set her on the grass and she perked up and ran for the duck pool and got in it--on the ramp. And I was like, oh, ok...she must be hot and got squished. I had to leave and when I got home she was layin in the grass and was gone. Her crop I felt it and it was a little watery and mushy sounding? So I don't know.

The one in the bathroom had a big swollen crop and I read on here to seperate them and give them olive oil on bread...so that's what I'm doing...and water...and on newspaper, no shavings. Today it's down but I still feel some more but she isn't acting funny...she seems pretty perky.

so how do i combat the gnats? they are terrible.

and what else should i do for a sour crop?

I just can't believe how bad the gnats are this year. sheesh.

They were bad a few years ago too I remember but not like they are now.

Yeah Deb, I'm sorry about your hen. And about how well we hijacked this thread having to do with Purp's really messy inbox.

About gnats, don't the chickens just eat them?

no they don't....and the gnats like get up all over them and up in thier faces...and all over their combs...it's terrible.

I went out there and was mobbed.

I'm going to go out now and clean the coop out and hope that helps some.

I need to look but I thought someone said to put apple cider vinegar in their water and maybe the gnats would lay off of the chickens...but what's that make the eggs taste like? but then i don't want my chickens to suffer.

and gnats are too lil for them to peck at...it's not like a big juicey fly or worm....
