PDZ vs agricultural lime

Good morning. What would you recommend for a sand bottom enclosed and covered run, PDZ or lime? Also your rationale? Thanks!!

In a run? In your climate....Neither.

No, I would not recommend sand for floor/ground bedding most anywhere.
Too much maintenance, IMO, and you can never really get all the poops out.
In NE it will likely freeze solid in the winter.

What does your run look like??....dimensions and pics would help immensely.

We are still working on it but here are a few pictures. My yard slopes towards the house. This spring it was a mud field. Worst I have seen in 15 years here. We made a bed of stone topped by sand to handle the water. The coop/run sit on top. I thought I would use shavings in the run over winter. Footprint is 7 x 20. I’m still thinking about what to cover the pens with. We have hawks, Fox, occasionally raccoon and opossum, a coyote every couple of years.
