Peachick prices

I sell my pea chicks for 25 each no matter what color i have the blues whites and blue pieds, they go up to 50 by the first of the first of next year, i love hatching eggs very much and have had great luck with incubators and broody chicken hens, i also sell hatching eggs 4 for 25 dollars for folks that want to hatch their own.

I sell Peacock Hatching eggs every year, $10-$15 each for the common varieties. Almost everyone who actually knows how to operate an incubator gets some to hatch. In many cases it is a much more affordable option for people. I myself have purple, opal, and bronze peafowl from purchased/traded eggs that had to be shipped. Don't down hatching eggs just because you don't choose to sell them. I for one am not trying to rip anyone off, but if a package is gonna get smashed by the USPS I'd rather it be a package of eggs and not a package of chicks. We each have our own personal preferences, and we respect those here in the Peafowl section. As KKB said nobody gets rich selling Peas, we do it because we love the birds and we want to share that experience with others, ripping people off isn't even in the equation.

I'm not meaning this in offensive way I'm just wondering why do you sell the eggs so much? I think they should be really cheap since they are not guaranteed to hatch and some people get angry for spending so much money and not getting a chick out of it. Knowing that there can be so many different things that can make it so the egg doesn't hatch the price should be lower. That's just my opinion. Again I'm just curious I'm not trying to offend you.

This is an average cost based on other eggs I've seen for sale in my area and sale prices on ebay. Most of my sales are local, so they get picked up and not shipped and I tell everyone that if they get NO live chicks from the eggs I will make it right. So far I only had to do that once, and that person had live chicks in his eggs at lockdown, but refused to assist hatching. No offense Birdrain, but Peacocks do not lay eggs like chickens do. Some of my girls will lay 30 + eggs and others only 12 eggs for the entire year, at that rate I consider them pretty valuable, and I wouldn't even consider selling them for $2.50. If you've ever watched prices on Ebay it is ridiculous sometimes, I've seen people getting over $30 per egg and those are going to be shipped so the chances of a successful hatch will plummet. I just do not see $10 as expensive. One lady purchased 10 eggs last summer, I coached her by phone and email thru the entire hatch. She got 7 out of 10, and lost one after hatch, so for $100.00 she got 2 whites, 2 pieds, one Silver Pied and one IB. I would say she got a bargain. I have even offered to drive to peoples houses and assist hatching if they needed me to. I don't just disappear when I get my money, I am always available if people need help.

Well when you add those details then I can see why your prices are the way they are.

I say sell them (eggs or chicks) for as much as you can, lol. Here I think I'll be lucky to get $5 and egg or $25 a chick.

$10-$15 is a pretty good price for an egg I think since the chicks cost so much. We sell rare breed chickens and eggs are typically worth about 30-40% of the going rate of a chick and since most peafowl chicks sell from anywhere around $30-$70 depending on color and your area even though I dont sell eggs myself I think $15 is pretty reasonable.

Nothing like counting your money before the chicks hatch. It is a rare individual who makes a profit raising peafowl, we usually shoot for breaking even at best and profit from the joy of having them roaming about our property. I have seen chicks sell for more than yearlings so if you are wanting to make money sell them quick. Not to be too pessimistic, but I will venture to guess that neither of your eggs will develop, I hope I am wrong but keep us posted.

Incubating pea eggs is much more difficult than chickens even under the best of conditions. The age of the egg, how it was collected, stored, temperature, transported, then you have the incubator settings for heat and humidity, if it was cleaned or sanitized, and turning rate. It is enough to drive you crazy.
Very well spoken indeed Ks,,,us peafolk are a unique group constantly climbing a very steep hill but ocasionally when we do reach the top the rewards are the most beautiful birds god has created imho.
