Peachick with a lean

I have a week old peachick that has had a hard time. He is standing now with the help of a hobble brace, but he leans. His right side is always higher than the left. Anyone know what could be causing this?

Does this chick have splay leg? It kind of looks like it in the picture.. Am not sure

Yes, that’s why I put the hobble brace on him

The hocks are blowing, it is probably too late to fix now. Your hobble is too wide, next time as early as you notice the splaying put the chick on cardboard as in my pics. Twelve to twenty-four hours will usually solve the problem.

Do you hand feed during that time?

We catch it early while they are sustained by the yolk in their body so no, we don't. If you try this method you will have to either provide food and water close enough to it so it can eat or you will need to tube feed it.
