Peachicks died suddenly

Hi, Everyone, it's been a few years that I've had questions. We just had 3 peachicks die suddenly. That's never happen to us before. They were about 3 weeks old. And from what I read, it's cocsidia. Now that we know the treatment (thru the thanks of the many on this site).
I have 2 questions: What caused the parasites in the first place. We house the chicks in a wooden box with a glass cover, regular light bulb, and switch to a screen top . later as it's been quite warm lately here. They were fine and spunky yesterday. they did their normal pecking at my finger, responded to my 'mama call' bap-bap (soooo cute), ate well, drank water well. #2 do we need to treat our dogs and cats?

If it was cocci it is everywhere. It floats in the air, it is on your hands and clothing so being inside and away from other birds is no guarantee they won't get it.

I would look at the housing or feed for a different reason for them dying. What were you feeding and were they able to get away from the heat source?

chick feed. and yes they could move away from the heat . also gave the boiled egg yolk

Did you give any treats?
