Peachick's Leg is Still Crooked Please Help

Wow if that is what this peachick needs I am going to have a hard time keeping my Mom from taking that off. She thinks it is mean keeping the peachick suspended and doing all these things to help fix its leg and my Dad and I keep telling her if we don't do something it could die or have a miserable life, but she just can't stand to see it like this and I come back home from class to find it un-hobbled or out of the sock because my Mom felt sorry for it.

I'm going to jump in here and say I'm not sure you have slipped tendon there. I'm definitely not a peachick expert (my first ones are in the brooder now). Occasionally I get a slipped tendon chicken chick and the leg doesn't go into the natural "sitting" position or at least not easily, your chick looks like you can manipulate the leg into a natural position. That chick's joint does look suspiciously red though so not sure. Maybe that is from it being bottom heavy and setting back on it's hocks???
I usually leave my splayed chicks hobbled for at least 3 days and always a full day after they look like they are walking normal. I tried the burrito but I have the best luck using rubber leg bands. I think the bands might not stay in place though for a leg turned out that far.
I am interested to see how this goes and hoping for the best for your chicky.

I'm not suggesting that, but just wanted to share all the videos and pictures I found. I think your sock sling might work if you can keep it in there long enough for the swelling to recede.

My bottom heavy one developed a slipped tendon because it spent most of the day on it's hocks. I'm not positive but I think @MinxFox said they could feel the tendon snap in and out of place, and if that's true, then I'd bet money that it's a slipped tendon that was caused by it sitting on it's hocks. The good news is that the only time I was able to fix a slipped tendon it was in the fat bellied chick.

I'm glad to hear someone has had luck fixing it. If that is what this one has then I'm going to hope it has a better chance than my chicks have had. From the pictures it doesn't look too bad. I mean for slipped tendon.

I don't know what it was - I never felt the tendon snap back in place I was just saying that from what I read, if you feel the tendon snapping back into place then it is slipped tendon. I never felt anything snapping or saw anything out of place so I figured that wasn't the issue my chick was having. I did see swelling in the hock joint but other than that nothing seemed out of place when comparing the bad leg to the good leg.

Perhaps this peachick just learned how to walk incorrectly? The right leg was definitely turning outward and the foot was sideways and not facing the front, but now the peachick is all better and can walk like a normal peachick. The only issue it has now is the back toe on the foot that used to be turned outward is not facing to the back of the foot but is facing the front with the other toes. We need to figure out a good way to keep that back toe in the back where it belongs, but other than that this peachick is doing very well considering my family thought it was going to die.

We kept the peachick in the sock 2 nights in a row and during most of the daytime the peachick was free to walk around on its own. I was off at my morning college class last week and my parents noticed that the sock was no longer needed and that the peachick was improving on its own. I have no idea if the sock helped at all or if this peachick just took a while to learn how to properly walk but it is doing great!

Now I am just waiting for this peachick to get bigger and stronger/faster so that I can keep him in with the green peachick. I need to get them socialized.
