How long and what temp do you incubate pea cock eggs??

I was over my bosses place today and when he showed me his pea cocks I stated how cool they were and he said here have a few eggs my incubator is already full, So I took them but not really sure what to do with them??

I do not have a incubator yet so how long will the eggs stay good??

Another question is can they stay with chickens because I could never let them free range where I live lol, lol

Thanks, Randy

Peacock eggs typically incubate the same as chickens, just longer - 28 days. I'm not sure how long the eggs would stay good for, but you could put them under a few broody hens, best bet is a broody turkey. They are quite fragile as chicks. You would need to make sure they know how to eat, like raising turkeys, I typically use food coloring to dye their feed and water to make them more curious. You can add a chick also to show them how to eat. I keep mine on wire until they are at least 3 months old, they are affected more by cocci and stuff then chickens. As adults they need a lot of room, as long as you can provide them space in a big pen with room to perch and turn that long tail around they should be ok.

Thanks for the info

You can store them for up to 15 days, but they do need to be turned 3 times a day during storage. If you have a cool basement, that would be best for storing themIn N.H.,Tony.

Yes best not any longer than 10 days, lot of good info so far.

Incubate like chicken eggs, 28 days to hatch.

Peachicks BEST raised on wire. 24% medicated starter, I place hardboil egg yolk over the feed, or give it to them by hand. the first few day so they can find the food.

Pen size a least 6 ft high 10ft X 20 ft .

I dont run mine with chicken, but lot of people do. The harm come from the chickens if they carry blackhead. Peafowl will not harm the chickens.

You can place them on the ground after 3 months. Make sure to worm them 3 times a year.
