I bought a yearling peacock earlier this week and put him in a large cage, where my chickens sleep at night.. I'm guessing the size is around 30'x7'x6'..something like that.. it does have a couple of sheltered areas.
Are peacocks pretty hardy? We have had very extreme thunderstorms for the past 3 or 4 evenings with torrential downpours of rain, so I know he's gotten wet a few times.
Within the next week, I will be adding a new cage/lot for my new peacock(s) that has an attached building with all sides covered except an opening just big enough for him to go into the coop.
Do you think he'll be ok where he is for now until his new area is built or should I move him in the coop/run with my laying hens? It is connected to a portion of an old barn.
