Was just wondering when mating season is for the males and how long it lasts? We had a peacock show up last Aug and just recently he has been calling out at all hours of the night. He free ranges and is in a tree right outside our bedroom window. Why would he do it from up in the tree and in the dark? Now my husband and I don't mind the noise but I feel really bad for the neighbors. One lady almost a 1/2 mile away can hear him at times. He is the only one we have but we do own chickens which he tries to flirt with. Would getting him a peahen "quiet" him down? With him screaming @ all hrs of the night I think I may need to bake cakes for all my neighbors!!
. I have a lot so having just one would be a breeze for me ! Since mine fight, they roost in different trees until spring is over and then call to each other. When it gets hot, they stop fighting and roost together again, that ends the calling. But they call whenever they hear a weird sound too. When I go out at night, they start if I make a noise, but when I speak to them, they calm down. They can't see well at night so they call out instead. I think it is just the restlessness that makes them do that. So many animals are spring maters only that they have to find a mate. But mine have mates and they still do it . good luck and hope it ends soon
