I went to a bird show at a parish fair and saw a pair of Silver Purple Peacock Pheasants. I wrote the person's name and phone number down. However I've tried called the person but get nowhere.
I was wondering where I can get info on the birds. They were very pretty and thought I might want to get a pair. That is if I can aford to get a pair.
Thank you for your help. :

There is no such a bird as a silver purple peacock pheasant. The most common are called grey peacock pheasants which are gray with purplish eyes. Then there are germains, palawanrothchilds, bronzetailed and malay peacock pheasants. The more common peacock pheasants are the greys, germains and palawans. There are a few rothchilds, bronze tailsand malays around but very few and very pricey. They are definetly not for someone just getting into pheasants. They are very delicate birds and you need to experience the less delicate birds before you take a step into peacock pheasants.
If you go to www.gbwf.org up in the top left corner click on pheasants and peacocks you will find all the info you need on all species of pheasants and peafowl.
Paul Kao and Joe Passintino both in Ca. has a few different species of peacock pheasants.

Uh oh! Youre tempting me something fierce LOL! I am going to try and raise some temmincks this fall. To many pics of them being shown so friendly sealed that deal.

Grey peacocks beside temmincks would look so nice.Do you have temmincks now?I raised 9 this year.

Dang thats alot! Gotta love it. Yes they would. But I was thinking more on raising Impeyans again instead of the grays. However, If I sell or trade my one siamese pair this fall for greys I would probably do the greys too. No I have never kept any kinds of tragopans. But I am getting two pair off two different folks. Im excited for this fall. I have a couple different birds coming in Ive been wanting to raise for a while.

I bought a pair of greys from Lisa Portz in Sebring,Fl.Well it was supposed to be a pair and looked like a pair when I got them but turned out to be 2 males. She said she wasn't going to raise any more young ones from her pair. That's a shame when you got a nice proven pair and don't want to breed them. She was on here but I haven't seen her screen name peepsnbunnies for a while now.I have 2 pair of temmincks and a trio of saytrs.Didn't get any saytrs this year.I'm looking for another male as this one I bought was blind but the guy got chicks from him.Maybe he needs to get used to his new surroundings.Either way I will get another male in the fall and be ready for next season.I built 5 new 8x16 pens to house the temmincks, saytrs and impeyans.Plus I have room to add 3 more 8x16's to those 5 at a later time. That will open up 3 of the 6x12 pens for maybe cheers or koklass.

I love my tragopans. The hens constantly fly on my arms if I am holding something interesting. Yesterday I saw a hen do a display that the male would do with the lappet and horns. It was cool to see. Too bad my boy does not want to show of his lappet anymore. He only did it twice one day when I was around. I did not get any chicks from mine. The chicks died in the egg. I was looking into getting Satyrs. Impeyans are something I am getting this year if everything goes well. Peacock pheasants were up on my list of birds to get but I do not think I want to heat them over the winter. I think a local pheasant breeder near me recently got peacock pheasants, so I am sure that once I see them I will want them. What birds are you getting Shawn?
