Any off chance you have ever had a peacock. I'm going to be getting a white male soon. He is a rescue. Any ideas to make his life a little easier would be appreciated.

Well you have come to the right place cause believe it or not most all of us here have a peacock .

IVe got turkey s with babies as we speak. I have another rescue she's a guinea. Then I have several chickens. The donkey the goat and the dogs. My animals know to play nice. I just didn't want to scare him so much. He's highly emaciated and the center called me to see if I'd take him. He gets delivered tomorrow at 11 am. I'm really excited. I probably won't sleep at all. I've got game bird feed and regular. I've bought him a new 5 gallon bucket to drink from. I'm gonna chop up some grapes and watermelon too.
The pen size sucks too small but it all I had 8 10 then 9 ft tall.
My goal is to get him acclimated then release him with all the others

Just make sure you keep him penned for a month or more to make sure he knows where home is. Peafowl like to wander. He should really love the grapes and watermelon.

I hope he recovers quickly. What is his story?

If he is emaciated he could have an underlying issue like worms, blackhead or coccidiosis, all will make them stop eating and they will lose weight quickly. Worming should be first on your agenda, safeguard cattle or goat drench works great and can be found at TSC. Once he arrives get a weight for him as dosage of wormer and other meds is based on weight. Get a little hard cat food they seem to love it and its high in protein, we mix a little in with our regular crumble feed. Pen is smallish but not terrible, 10x10 is recommended per pea. He should stay penned for 2-3 months, otherwise he may leave in search of his previous home. Good luck with him, whites are beautiful!

Thank yall very much. I'm really excited. The poor baby. He'll be as ruined as the rest of my babies. I'm gonna have to pen him quite a bit though. Which sucks in my opinion. We are moving from 3 acres to 102 acres at end of month. July 1st we close. I'm so excited I can barely stand it.

Please make sure you quarantine him from your other birds for at least 2 weeks, you would not want to loose your other rescues because this one brought something home and sometimes it can be deadly and or incurable.

Fix him some scrambled eggs, he may not eat them at first if he has never had them but once he gets a taist for them he will love them and they will be a great nutritional source.

Here he is. . The guy had him in his backseat. He's just as calm as can be. Calm before the storm is what I'm guessing. Lol. He's so beautiful. I've got to name him, and that's hard. I'm not used to naming something that's male and so pretty. Lol. I'm a Disney fan so maybe I can come up w something. Lol
