Thanks, MinxFox, that's a great suggestion. I may try getting a trio. Maybe if there's just one peacock and he isn't separated from his peahens, he won't need to squawk as much.
Peafowl are popular here. There was an item in yesterday's local paper, in fact! A pair of peafowl got away from a local owner who had just gotten them (guess they weren't used to their new home yet), and while they found the peahen shortly after, the peacock was missing for days. A school teacher found him and clipped his wings, and put him in the school's enclosed courtyard where all the kids could see him from their classroom windows, and the janitor could put out poultry feed and water for him. They tracked down the owner and the bird was reunited with his owners and his mate yesterday.
Gotta wonder if that peacock was "OhWOWing" in the courtyard while the kids were trying to pay attention to their lessons?
