Peacocks with Chronic Respiratory Disease ?????

Long time ago I had a umbrella cockatoo that I tube fed (hand raised) and learned real quick how to get things in the crops of birds... LOL

Glad to hear your peacock is doing better! A long time ago when i first got peacocks. I had one that looked just like yours with the swollen eyes and all. I took one to the vet and had about the same luck you did. They could'nt tell me what it was or anything to do foe it.

Well it was on its last leg. And i had some LA200 on hand for the cattle. So as a last resort i gave it a shot of the LA200. The next day i expected it to be dead. But to my surprise it was a lot better.

I found out later that the LA200 or the Tylan etiher one was a treatment for the sinititus. (which at the time i did'nt know that was what they had)

So now if i have one that gets it i put the LA200 down their throat and add the Tylan to their drinking water for a few days.

Glad everything is working out for you and the birds

I am wondering how much Tylan you use down the throat. Ibhave a peacock with some signa of resp. Distress. 2 peahens seem fine.

I have 2 boys, each have 1 badly swollen eye! I've treated for gapworm, I've given 3 days of injection of LA 200, I've treating water now with Doxy-Tyl powder. It's tylosin and doxycycline. Am having absolutely no luck!! In fact, each eye bulb has gotten larger!!
Please help!? Where do I go from here?
( have been treating water with powder and have them locked in so only water source, for 4 or 5 days). Please...any advise?

Keep the tylan in there drinking water and also give them two cc's of LA200 either a shot or down there mouth.

Don't worry about fertitly or eating the eggs for now . If you dont get some medicine in them QUICK your not going to have any birds by the look of that picture.
Don't mean to sound awful but it should of been treated before it got that bad.

Get the LA 200 in them quick it will work quicker that the tylan.....but keep the tylan in there water also
I have the same problem just happening in my peacock flock can you tell me how much Tylan to use in the water and also am I getting the cattle injectable la 200? Or is there different forms of this message like there are in ivermectin

This thread is very old and you make get more accurate information by posting a new thread of your own, including a picture and more details of symptoms. Tylan 50 and 200 are injectable drugs that may be given orally. Only Tylosin powder should be put in water 1 tsp per gallon of water for 3-5 days. Those may treat symptoms of MG respiratory disease, and some other diseases.

Yes down the throat is the best way, just with newbe I am always afraid they may not get past the wind pipe.
Would you say this is Chronic Respiratory Disease??? What is the fastest remedy? I just started putting Tylan in their drinking water and other suggestions??? Should I treat all of my flock? and if I do will that kill my fertilty and be unable to eat the eggs?

What was the dosage of tylan in water? I think I have the same thing happening here. One hen with swollen eye and snotty nose. Two others sneezing. Thanks for any info.

2nd best is the shot, and yes it can deteriate muscle,so be carefull about giving to many shots.

3rd is in the water, it just takes to long.
