Our little valley is one of the few remaining places in our county that has ringneck pheasants. They were part of a raise & release program several years ago, and a few are surviving independently. I'd really like to get some peafowl, but don't want to jeopardize this small wild population. Would I be risking their health to get peafowl, especially if I allow them free range? Thanks for any input.

peafowl are pheasants, so any diseaese could be spread to the wild pheasant population, if like 100 things all lined up perfect. Your chances of causeing a problem with this are very very slim. I wouldnt worry with it.
Be sure to get healthy N.P.I.P. birds though! Do NOT go to a swap or auction to get them, you will be bringing home only God knows what then! Start healthy and stay healthy..
Good luck
