Peafowl chick and chicks

Can peachicks and chicken chicks be raised together? I saw an advertisement for some peachicks this morning and would like a little more info before I get myself into some kind of mess. I have never had peachicks before, and from my understanding, I know they will be a little more difficult to deal with than a chick. A lot like children and put everything into their mouth, yes? Anyway, I was going to hold off until next year when I have a little more brooder space, as all the chicks I have in there are 2-3 weeks old. I just figured getting some chicks that may be past the “first 2 week curse, (if that applies to peachicks)” would be the better way to go, and to get them a little younger so that they would be more friendly and know the ropes of the farm.
Like I said, I’ve been looking into peafowl for a while but haven’t put my nose to the book/grindstone as I had planned on getting some next year. So from what I’ve read and remember reading, they can be housed together but only if coci isn’t in the soil? I plan on them being housed separate as adults, once I get my barn constructed which will hopefully be by the end of summer.
Any advice or “NO LeviS! Don’t do it, you don’t need them yet” would be much appreciated. J

I worry about a little about cocci, but it's Blackhead (histomoniasis) that worries me most. It strikes fast and kills young one very quickly. Many people here do raise them together and have no problems, I'm not one of them...This year I'm going to keep my chicks off the ground until they are at least six months old.

You can put peachicks with chicken chicks as long as the chicken chicks have never been on the ground yet. For example, you hatched them and they are in a brooder, then yes you can mix them. Now if they hatched under a hen in the hen house and were outside running everywhere and you decided to bring them into the brooder then no because those chicks touched the ground. You just do not want cross contamination in the brooder. As the chicks get older you want to keep the peachicks off the ground for at least 6 months and then when they touch the ground you worm them. Here is a link to how I do it and a few more and maybe you can get an idea of how you want to do yours so you have healthy peachicks in your yard

Thanks for the replies! It turns out the person didnt have the colors I was looking for (white and blue) or a pair. So i'm going to hold out till next year....hopefully .
