Hey, I am getting a trio of peacocks and have seen that they can be noisy at night. Do they scream all night and would I hear them from in my home?

Mine will call late in the evening but not during the night. However, I do not have lights near his pen. And I can hear him in my house with the window closed the the fan blowing.

How far is your peacock from your house?

About 600 yards, behind the horse barn.
If he is that far away you shouldn't notice the calling. We sleep with the slider open during the summer and when the boys set on the deck and call we will be bothered by it at first then as the summer wears on we don't notice it much.

Ok you can't believe everything you read on the internet but " The noise that gets this gorgeous bird into trouble is either a mating call or an alarm call. In either case, it's a loud "Ah-AAAAAH" that can register 100+ on the shriek-o-meter and can be heard as far as five miles away.
I can hear my daughter's, especially during mating season, quite clearly and she lives half a mile away. They don't tend to call after dark but that's when the neighbours rooster takes over.
