My peahen died last night. She had been acting slow for a day or two and i know that she had been eating barn mice that she would catch!.. She and her partner live in a pen with other fowl (turkeys/chickens) aswell as potbelly pigs, goats, and sheep. Everyone else is doing fine.. So i was wondering if she could have died from the mice consumption?

. Do you leave out Mice bait? If so she could have ingested it when she killed the mouse.

I would bet that the odds against disease/parasites caught up with her considering how many other animals are in the pen. Some do great forever that way, some don't. Just a lot of potential for problems there. If they were all free ranged over a large area, it would be different. How big is the pen?

I agree,
i did not know they could swallow a mouse, my birds eat from my hand and if i give them a big peice of banana they will not eat it, i break it up and they wolf it down, the biggest thing mine eat is a grape silly birds.

Sorry for your loss!
